Wednesday was not just a successful day for the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was also a good day in their minor league system, including a 13-1 victory over the Toledo Mud Hens for the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians. This win improved Indy's record on the season to 25-27.

It proved to be a bullpen game for Indy, starting with Caleb Smith walking a batter and striking out a pair in 2 scoreless innings pitched. Carmen Mlodzinski followed with 2 scoreless innings of his own, dancing around a hit and three walks.

Daniel Zamora allowed a run on two hits, a walk, and a strikeout in 1.2 innings pitched. Eli Villalobos allowed a hit, to go with a walk and a strikeout in 1.1 scoreless innings pitched. Chase De Jong then struck out three, while issuing a walk and allowing a hit in 2 scoreless innings pitched.

Miguel Andújar led the way for the Indy offense going 4-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI. Canaan Smith-Njigba, Nick Gonzales, and Cal Mitchell all hit home runs for the Indians, with Gonzales's being a grand slam.

Travis Swaggerty returned to Indy's lineup going 0-for-5 with a walk and a run scored. Jared Triolo had a pair of hits, scored twice, and drove in a run. Endy Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.
