Bradenton caps off 5-1 week with a blowout victory

The Low-A Bradenton Marauders continued their strong start to the 2023 season by rolling over teh Daytona Tortugas 9-1 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Marauders capped off a 5-1 week that improved their record to 10-5 on the season.

J.P. Massey started for the Marauders and fired 5 scoreless innings. Massey allowed two hits, walked a batter, and struck out seven. In 11.2 innings pitched this season, Massey owns a 3.86 ERA and a 5:18 BB:K ratio.

Carlos Lomeli pitched the 6th and 7th innings, surrendering the only run that the Tortugas scored on the day. Lomeli allowed a run on two hits, a walk, and four strikeouts. Darvin Garcia struck out two in a 1-2-3 8th inning, Elijah Birdsong walked a batter and struck out a pair in a scoreless 9th.

At the top of the lineup shortstop Jesus Castillo was 0-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. Termarr Johnson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and 2 RBI. Center fielder Tres Gonzalez was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored, and designated hitter Javier Rivas was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, a double, and 2 RBI. Alexander Mojica was 1-for-3 with a walk and a RBI.
