Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects: Carter Bins Keeps Hitting in Salt River Rafters Victory
Another big day at the plate from Carter Bins highlighted Friday night's Pittsburgh Pirates prospect action in the Arizona Fall League
A trio of Pittsburgh Pirates prospects were in the lineup for the Salt River Rafters in Friday night's Arizona Fall League action. The trio helped the Rafters defeat the Scottsdale Scorpions 6-5, to get back to .500 in AFL play at 11-11.
Carter Bins served as Salt River's designated hitter on Friday night. The Pirate catching prospect continued to swing a hot bat for the Rafters, going 2-for-4 with his 4th double of the AFL season and two runs scored. Bins is now hitting .375 with a 1.100 OPS in 34 plate appearances.
Both Jase Bowen and Jack Brannigan were in the lineup for Salt River as well.
Bowen started at first base and went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. However, he did drive in a run giving him 16 RBI in the AFL thus far. As for Brannigan, his struggles continue going 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Brannigan is hitting just .179 with a .688 OPS.
The play of Brannigan in the AFL really has been a disappointment. In addition to his poor slash line, he has struggled to hit for any power and has struck out 24 times in 67 PAs. He has also committed three errors at shortstop.
