Altoona hangs on for 1-run victory

They allowed a run in the 8th inning that made them sweat it out some, but the Double-A Altoona Curve defeated the Akron RubberDucks 5-4 on Saturday night. With the win, the Curve are now 15-15 on the season.

Liover Peguero went 1-for-5 with a RBI, left fielder Fabricio Macias was also 1-for-5. Henry Davis started at catcher and actually looked human, going just 1-for-4 with a walk. He still has an Eastern League best 1.126 OPS.

Lolo Sanchez was 1-for-4 with a solo home run, his 3rd of the season. Andres Alvarez was 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored. Matt Fraizer was 3-for-4 with three doubles, he drove in a pair and scored a run.

Kyle Nicolas started for the Curve and pitched 5 strong innings. He allowed a run on six hits, three walks, and five strikeouts. Brad Case allowed 2 runs on two hits and a walk in 2/3 of an inning pitched. Tahnaj Thomas allowed a run in 2 innings pitched while striking out a pair.

Oliver Garcia pitched 1/3 of an inning. Tyler Samaniego pitched a scoreless 9th inning for his 2nd save of the season, allowing a hit and issuing a walk.
