Rare poor night for High-A Greensboro

So far this season the High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers have been one of the best teams in all of minor league baseball. On Tuesday, however, the Grasshoppers had one of their worst performances of the early season. The Grasshoppers lost to the Rome Braves 7-2 to fall to 11-5 on the season.

Lefty Anthony Solometo started for the Grasshoppers and turned in a strong start. Solometo allowed 2 runs on just two hits, three walks, and four strikeouts in 5 innings pitched. Solometo was called for a balk, but did not allow a home run and threw 47 of his 76 pitches for a strike.

Brad Case took over for Solometo in the 6th inning and struggled. In 1.2 innings pitched Case allowed 5 runs on four hits, two walks, a home run, and a strikeout. Grant Ford pitched the final 2.1 innings of the game. Ford issued a walk and struck out three without allowing a hit or a run.

Offensively it was not a good night for the Grasshoppers who recorded just four hits. Mike Jarvis hit a solo home run, giving him 3 on the season. Tsung Che-Cheng, Luke Brown, and Hudson Head all had a hit as well.
