Greensboro walked off in 9th inning meltdown

The Greensboro Grasshoppers held a 3-2 lead entering the bottom of the 9th inning on Wednesday. Well, the Pirate High-A affiliate could not hold this lead as they allowed 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning. This led to a 5-3 loss against the Asheville Tourists, dropping the Grasshoppers to 20-15 on the season.

Shortstop Tsung-Che Cheng continues to do nothing but hit going 1-for-3 with a walk, his 6th double of the season, and a RBI, raising his OPS on the season to .927. Third baseman Jackson Glenn was 2-for-5 with a double and a RBI.

Hudson Head and Brenden Dixon both went 1-for-4, while Maikol Escotto and Eli Wilson were both 2-for-4. This included a double and two runs scored for Escotto.

Po-Yu Chen started for the Grasshoppers and turned in one of his best starts of the season. Chen allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, on six hits, a walk, and eight strikeouts in 6 innings pitched. Chen now owns a 5.74 ERA in 31.1 innings pitched this season.

Righty Jaycob Deese followed Chen and continued to pitch well. Deese allowed two hits and struck out a pair in 2 scoreless innings pitched. On the season Deese owns a 3.70 ERA and a 4:20 BB:K ratio in 24.1 innings pitched this season.

Eddy Yean pitched the 9th inning for Greensboro. Yean quickly got knocked around, allowing 3 runs on two hits and a walk. Yean did not record an out, and one of the hits he allowed was a walk off home run.
