Jack Brannigan hit his 1st triple of the AFL season and Alessandro Ercolani pitched an inning in a Salt River Rafters victory on Friday night
Friday night in the Arizona Fall League, the Salt River Rafters jumped out to a 4-0 1st inning lead of the Peoria Javelinas. This sparked a lead that would gorw to 6-0 as the Rafter went on to win a high scoring affair 11-8. With the win, the Rafter improved to 6-5 on the season.
A pair of Pittsburgh Pirates prospects contributed to the Rafter victory.
Jack Brannigan started at shortstop for the Rafters. After a slow start to the AFL season, Brannigan has been starting to heat up at the plate in recent games. That continued on Friday night as Brannigan went 1-for-4 with his 1st triple of the AFL season, a walk, and two runs scored. Following his brutal start, Brannigan's OPS in the AFL is now up to .703.
In the 6th inning, right-handed Pirate pitching prospect Alessandro Ercolani took the mound for the Rafters. Ercolani allowed a run on a hit, a walk, a strikeout, and he hit a batter. Ercolani threw 15 of 25 pitches for a strike and now has a 9.82 ERA in AFL action.
