Bradenton grabs an early lead, doesn't look back
It did not take the Low-A Bradenton Marauders long to take the lead on Sunday afternoon. After scoring a run in each of the first 2 innings against the Tampa Tarpons on their way to a 6-2 victory to improve to 27-24 on the season.
Jack Brannigan hit a solo home run in the 1st inning, his 1st of the season to give the Marauders a quick 1-0 lead. A fielding error lead to another Marauder run in the 2nd inning. At that point it was 2-0 and the Marauders were off and running.
In the 4th inning their lead grew. Termarr Johnson, who remains red hot at the plate, scored on a Rodolfo Nolasco sacrifice fly. Shalin Polanco then launched his 8th home run of the season, making the score 5-1 Marauders.
Brannigan finished hte gmae 2-for-4 with his solo home run and a walk. Johnson was 1-for-5 with a run scored, Polanco was 2-for-5 with his home run and 2 RBI, Alexander Mojica and Jesus Castillo each had a hit as well, as well as a Castillo RBI.
Dominic Perachi started for Bradenton, allowing 2 runs on five hits, a home run, no walks, and seven strikeouts in 5 innings pitched. Tyler Chatwood, Luis Peralta, and Ryan Harbin combined to strike out a pair in 4 perfect innings of relief.
