Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects: Jase Bowen Hits Game Winning Home Run, More From the AFL
Jase Bowen continues to swing a hot bat for the Salt River Rafters
Jase Bowen hits a game winning 3-run home run in the 9th inning and more from Pittsburgh Pirates prospects in Monday night's AFL action
Following a 7-6 victory over the Scottsdale Scorpions on Monday night, the Salt River Rafters are now 8-5 in Arizona Fall League play. Multiple Pittsburgh Pirates prospects played a big role in this victory.
Jack Brannigan started at shortstop with Jase Bowen in right field. While Brannigan, who has been swinging a better bat in the last week, went 0-for-4 with a walk, Bowen played a major role for the Rafter offense.
Bowen continues to rake for the Rafters going 2-for-4 with a walk, his 2nd home run of the AFL season, he scored a pair of runs, and drove in 3. Bowen's home run came in the clutch, as the 3-run blast came with two outs in the 9th inning and the Rafters trailing 6-4. With this performance, Bowen is now hitting .383 with a 1.113 OPS in AFL play.
A trio of Pirate pitching prospects pitched out of the bullpen, playing a role in the victory for the Rafters. Lefty J.C. Flowers threw 9 of his 14 pitches for strikes while recording a strikeout in a 1-2-3 5th inning.
Righty Cam Junker took the ball with two outs in the 6th inning. Junker allowed an unearned run on a hit and a strikeout in 1 inning pitched. Nick Dombkowski then replaced Junker with two outs in the 7th inning. The lefty faced two batters, allowing a single before recording a fly out to end the inning.
