Home runs for Jack Brannigan and Jase Bowen, more Pittsburgh Pirates prospect action from the Arizona Fall League on Friday

A pair of Pittsburgh Pirates position player prospects played a huge role in a 5-3 victory for the Salt River Rafters in Friday's Arizona Fall League victory. These two prospects each hit a home run for the Rafters. With the win, the Rafters got back over .500 on the season at 14-13.

As he closes in on 100 plate appearances, the Arizona Fall League has been a struggle for Jack Brannigan thus far. On Friday, however, Brannigan flashed the power that he showed so often during the 2023 minor league season.

Brannigan was just 1-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts, but his hit was a 2-run home run. This was Brannigan's 3rd home run in the AFL thus far. Even with the blast, he is still hitting just .159 with a .651 OPS in 83 PAs so far this fall.

Jase Bowen also went deep for the Rafters. Bowen hit leadoff while playing in right field, and his solo home run was his 4th in the AFL. In 98 PAs this fall, the right-handed hitting Bowen is now hitting .307 with an OPS of .905.

Right-handed pitching prospect Cam Junker also appeared in the game. Junker walked two batters while recording just two outs in 2/3 of an inning pitched. In 7.2 innings pitched in the AFL, Junker has struggled. He owns a 7.04 ERA, having allowed 11 hits to go with a hit batter, 6 walks, and 8 strikeouts.
