Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects: Jase Bowen, Jack Brannigan Make an Impact in 10-8 Salt River Loss
A pair of Pittsburgh Pirates prospects came through with big hits in a high scoring loss for the Salt River Rafters in Thursday's Arizona Fall League action
In Thursday's Arizona Fall League action, the Salt River Rafters were defeated by the Peoria Javelinas 10-8. With the loss, the Rafters are now 14-16 on the season. In the loss, a pair of Pittsburgh Pirates prospects made an impact at the plate.
As a whole, the AFL season has been a struggle for slugging Pirate infield prospect Jack Brannigan. On Thursday, the Salt River shortstop went just 1-for-4. That one hit, however, was a big one for the Rafters.
The lone hit Brannigan had in the loss was a 2-run home run. This was his 4th home run of the AFL season. He did strikeout in his other three trips to the plate, though. In 93 AFL plate appearances, Brannigan is hitting just .177 with an OPS of .695.
Outfield prospect Jase Bowen also came through with a big hit for the Rafters in their loss. Starting in right field, Bowen was 1-for-5 with a pair of RBI. He is now hitting .290, with a, .855 OPS and 19 RBI in 111 PAs this fall.
