High-A Greensboro doubles up Asheville

Thursday night the High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers doubled up the Asheville Tourists by a score of 6-3. With the victory, the Grasshoppers are now 51-45 on the season. The win was spearheaded by a strong start from Po-Yu Chen.

Chen pitched 5 innings and allowed just one hit. The hit he allowed was a solo home run, leading to him allowing 1 run in his 5 innings pitched. Chen did not walk a batter, he hit a batter, and struck out seven. Dating back to the start of July, Chen owns a 3.21 ERA in 28 innings pitched across five starts.

Mitchell Miller walked a pair and struck a batter out in a scoreless 6th inning and Ryan Harbin struck out two while walking two in a scoreless 7th inning. Yunior Thibo started the 8th inning, but allowed two runs on a hit and a walk while only recording two outs. Valentin Linarez then got the final out of the 8th inning.

Dante Mendoza allowed a hit and walked a pair in the 9th inning. With the bases loaded and no one out Cy Nielson was summoned from the bullpen. Nielson got two pop outs and a ground out to clean up the inning without allowing a run to score.

Offensively, Sammy Siani and Malcolm Nuñez both doubled for the Grasshoppers. Siani finished 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBI. Nuñez finished 2-for-2 with two walks, a run scored, and three RBI.

Josiah Sightler also had a multi-hit game for the Grasshoppers going 2-for-4. Tres Gonzalez was 1-for-4 with a run scored, and Maikol Escotto was 1-for-4 with a RBI.
