Liover Peguero and Henry Davis stay hot at Double-A, a strong start for Tom Harrington at Low-A, and more in Thursday's Pittsburgh Pirates minor league roundup

Last season it looked like Yerry De Los Santos may emerge as a building block in the Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen. Well, so far this season he has struggled with Triple-A Indianapolis and those struggles continued on Thursday night.

De Los Santos allowed allowed two hits and walked a batter in the bottom of the 9th inning. This led to him allowing 2 runs as the Indians were walked off by the Columbus Clippers 5-4 to fall to 22-25 on the season. De Los Santos also committed an error in the inning and has a 6.70 ERA this season.

Caleb Smith started for Indy and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, on three hits, three walk, a home run, and four strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched. Hunter Stratton allowed a hit in 1.2 scoreless innings pitched, while lefty Angel Perdomo walked a pair and recorded a strikeout in a scoreless 8th inning.

Batting lead off, Nick Gonzales went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Canaans Smith-Njigba was 1-for-4 with a run scored and Endy Rodriguez was 0-for-4. Jared Triolo was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scord. Aaron Shackleford hit a pair of home runs, giving him 6 on the season, while drawing a walk and driving in three runs.

The Double-A Altoona Curve walloped the Hartford Yard Goats 16-0. Following their blowout victory over the Yard Goats, the Curve are now 21-19 on the season.

Greensboro offense struggles in 5-2 loss

On Thursday the High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers struggled mightily on offense. Entering the 9th inning, the Grassoppers had not scored a run. While they plated a pair of runs in the 9th they still fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods 5-2 to fall to 22-20 on the season.

Bubba Chandler started for the Grasshoppers and turned in a strong start. Chandler allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, on eight hits, a walk, and seven strikeouts. This outing lowered Chandler's ERA on the season to 6.62. Hopefully, this will be the start that gets Chandler trending in an upward direction again.

After Jack Brannigan began the inning on second base and advanced on a ground out, Shalin Polanco singled him home to give the Marauders a 1-0 victory.
