Extra innings victory for High-A Greensboro

Following a 4-3 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades in 10 innings, the High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers are off to 2-1 start this season. With a Jase Bowen on second base, Sammy Siani laid down a bunt to start the 10th inning. A throwing error by Hudson Valley pitcher Trevor Holloway allowed Bowen to score what would prove to be the winning run.

Jaycob Deese started for the Grasshoppers, and allowed a run on two hits, a walk, and three strikeouts in 3 innings pitched. Drew Irvine allowed 2 runs on three hits, two walks, and a strikeout while recording just one out. Michell Miliano would then pitch 1.2 scoreless inning with four strikeouts.

Dante Mendoza pitched 2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking a batter out. Oliver Mateo pitched a scoreless, hitless 8th inning. Mateo walked a batter and struck out a pair. Will Kobos pitched the final 2 innings, posting a zero while allowing a hit and striking out a pair.

Shortstop Mike Jarvis led the way for the Grasshopper offense. Batting at the top of the lineup, he went 3-for-4 with his 1st home run of the season and two RBI. The aforementioned Bowen was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored, Siani was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, and left fielder Angel Basabe went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
