Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects: Strong Start in the FCL From Hung-Leng Chang & More

A strong pitching performance from Hung-Leng Chang helped lead the Pittsburgh Pirates Florida Complex League affiliate to a victory on Monday
The lone Pittsburgh Pirates minor league club in action on Monday were the FCL Pirates. Down in the Florida Complex League, the FCL Pirates continued to play well in a 6-3 victory over the FCL Braves. With the win, the Pirates are now 21-8 on the season.
Righty Hung-Leng Chang started for the Pirates and pitched 5 strong innings. Chang allowed a run on three hits, two walks, five strikeouts, and he induced five ground ball outs. Chang now owns a 3.20 ERA to go with 25 strikeouts in 25.1 innings pitched this season.
Roelmy Garcia followed Chang and allowed a run on two hits, a walk, and a strikeout in the 6th inning. Jackson Grounds pitched a scoreless 7th inning and Enmanuel De Los Santos allowed a run in the 8th inning. Joaquin Tejada allowed a hit and issued a walk in the 9th inning, but struck out a pair while posting a zero.
Catching prospect Axiel Plaz served as the team's designated hitter, going 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Second baseman Jeral Toledo went 3-for-3. Toledo hit his 3rd triple of the season, drew a walk, scored a run, and drove in a run.
Juan Jerez was 1-for-2 with a double, run scored, and two RBI. Left fielder Miguel Sosa was 2-for-2 wiht a walk and two runs scored. Wesley Zapata drew two walks and Esmerlyn Valdez went 1-for-3 drawing a walk and scoring a run.
