FCL offense explodes in blowout victory
Friday afternoon saw plenty of offense from the FCL Pirates. Scoring early and often, the FCL Pirates defeated the FCL Orioles by a score of 20-4. With the win, the Pirates are now 17-7 on the season.
Juan Jerez led the way for the FCL Pirates going 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs, a walk, a triple, two RBI, and three runs scored. Second baseman Jeral Toledo was 1-for-3 with two walks, his 2nd home run of the season, two RBI, and three runs scored.
Shortstop Kelvin Diaz and designated hitter Miguel Sosa each had multi-hit games as well. Diaz hit his 1st home run of the season while driving in three runs and scoring twice. Sosa also drew two walks and scored four runs.
Center fielder Sergio Campana was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Eddy Rodriguez drove in two runs, while Jauri Custodio and Esmerlyn Valdez each drove in a run.
Left-handed pitcher Michael Kennedy started for the FCL Pirates. The 2021 draft pick allowed 4 runs on four hits, two walks, a home run, and five strikeouts in 4 innings pitched. Despite struggling in this outing, Kennedy still owns a 2.41 ERA in his impressive first professional season.
