Greensboro survives late rally in win
Greensboro Grasshopper pitching shutout the Bowling Green Hot Rods for the first 7 innings of the game. The Hot Rods scored 3 runs in the 8th inning, but the Grasshoppers were still able to hold on for a 5-3 victory to improve to 59-50 on the season.
Josiah Sightler went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Third baseman Shawn Ross was 1-for-3 with a solo home run, giving him 10 home runs on the season. Catcher Wyatt Hendrie was 1-for-2 with a 3-run home run and a walk.
Thomas Harrington started for the Grasshoppers and pitched 7 strong innings. Harrington allowed a run, via a solo home run, on two hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts in 7 innings pitched. In 69.1 innings pitched since being promoted to Greensboro earlier this season, Harrington now owns a 4.15 ERA, 20 walks, and 85 strikeouts.
Jake Stevenson started the 8th inning. After allowing two hits, walking a batter, and throwing a wild pitch, Stevenson, who was charged with 2 runs, was lifted. Valentin Linarez was summoned. Linarez struck out three in 2 scoreless innings to finish off the game.
