Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects: Triple-A Indy Finishes Season With a Victory

Josh Bissonette did a little bit of everything and Max Kranick pitched 3.2 strong innings to help propel Triple-A Indy to a victory in their season finale

The 2023 season has officially come to a close for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Sunday afternoon, the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians defeated the Rochester Red Wings 5-1 to finish their season with a victory. With the win, the Indians finish the season with a 70-78 record.

Max Kranick started for Indy and pitched 3.2 strong innings. Kranick allowed a run on three hits, no walks, and two strikeouts. He threw 39 of 60 pitches for a strike and had three ground ball outs to go with just one fly ball out.

It was a bit of a long season for Kranick as he worked his way back from Tommy John Surgery. However, he was able to end it on a strong note with momentum built heading into the offseason. Kranick 16.1 innings for Indy after returning from surgery, posting a 2.76 ERA with just six walks while striking out 12.

Chase De Jong followed Kranick and allowed a hit in 1.1 scoreless innings pitched. Cam Junker followed with 2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits, walking a pair, and striking out five. Travis MacGregor struck a batter out in a 1-2-3 8th inning. Infielder Josh Bissonette made his second position player pitching appearance of the season in the 9th, firing a 1-2-3 inning.

Bissonette also had a good day at the plate for the Indians, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run score. Vinny Capra was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and drove in a run at the top of the lineup. Nick Gonzales was 1-for-4 with a dobule, run scored, and an RBI. Joe Perez went 1-for-4 with a 2-run home run, his 3rd with Indy, and Ryan Vilade capped his season off with a 4-for-4 performance.
