Two Pittsburgh Pirates prospects were in the lineup for the Salt River Rafters in their shutout victory on Wednesday

Wednesday in the Arizona Fall League the Salt River Rafters picked up a 3-0 shutout victory over Peoria Javelinas. With the win, the Rafters are now 13-13 on the season. In the win, a pair of Pittsburgh Pirates prospects were in the lineup for the Rafters.

Pirate catching prospect Carter Bins started behind the dish for the Rafters. Thanks in part to his strong start to the AFL season, Bins was batting third for Salt River. However, it was a rough day at the plate for Bins who went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

This was a rare poor night at the plate for Bins, who has been one of Salt River's best hitters thus far this season. Bins now has 39 plate appearances with Salt River, and he's hitting .333 with a .979 OPS. A huge turnaround from his regular season struggles.

Joining Bins in the lineup was first base/outfield prospect Jase Bowen. The right-handed hitting Bowen started in center field for Salt River, a rare start in center as he typically plays first base or a corner outfield position, and bat 9th. Bowen also had a hitless game, going 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.

Bowen got off to a red hot start in the AFL, but has started to fall upon harder times with struggles at the plate in recent weeks. Despite these struggles, Bowen is still hitting .313 with a strong .898 OPS in 93 PAs in the AFL.
