Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects: Tyler Samaniego Allows Walk Off Hit in Salt River Rafters Loss
Tyler Samaniego allows a walk off hit and more Pittsburgh Pirates prospect action from Monday night's Salt River Rafters loss
It was a mixed bag of results for Pittsburgh Pirates prospects in the Arizona Fall League on Monday. This mixed bag contributed to the Salt River Rafters suffering a 5-4 walk-off loss against the Glendale Desert Dogs. With the loss, the Rafters are now 12-12 on the season.
Once again, Jack Brannigan started at shortstop for the Rafters. Brannigan's offensive woes in the AFL continued, going 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Brannigan is now hitting .164 with a .641 OPS.
Jase Bowen started at first base for the Rafters, going 1-for-4. In 89 AFL plate appearances, Bowen is now hitting .325 with a .924 OPS. After a scorching start to the AFL season, Bowen has plateaued out in recent weeks.
Tyler Samaniego took over in the 9th inning with two runners on base, two outs, and the game tied at 4. After walking the first batter he faced, Samaniego allowed a base hit to Colson Montgomery. This hit walked it off for Glendale, giving the Desert Dogs a 5-4 victory.
