The Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers and catchers will report to Bradenton on February 14th. It is crazy that is just about a week away already. What is even more crazy is the amount of free agents that remain unsigned including top-tier players like Cody Bellinger, Blake Snell, and Jordan Montgomery.

Meanwhile, like much of the League, the Pittsburgh Pirates still have some uncertainties on their roster. The Bucs could use another starting pitcher, who is well-known. However, they also could be looking for another outfielder and potentially another catcher.

According to FanSided's own, insider Robert Murray, the Pittsburgh Pirates are still pretty active in the free-agent market. It was reported last week that the Bucs had communication with free agent catcher Gary Sanchez. Murray reaffirmed this in his most recent article which came out on Sunday night, February 4th, stating the Bucs are still interested in the backstop.

However, Murray also had another tidbit on rumors regarding the Pittsburgh Pirates. Earlier in the offseason it was reported that the team was looking into free agent outfielder Michael A. Taylor. Nothing has changed, Taylor is still a free agent so the team very well could still be in on him. However, another player who could fill a similar role is Tony Kemp. Murray listed the Pittsburgh Pirates among Kemp's suitors.

Kemp is more of a utility player than Taylor, with Taylor being strictly an outfielder and Kemp having the ability to play infield and outfield. The other main difference is that they bat from different sides of the plate. Taylor is a righty while Kemp is a lefty. So it is hard to say if these two are both in consideration or if the team has moved on from Taylor to Kemp.

Regardless, it definitely seems like the Pittsburgh Pirates are planning to make a couple of moves yet.

The belief is that they will add a starter and Robert Murray lists two position players that the team could also bring in. At least, the hope is I should say. So with Spring Training about to start up the hot stove is also going to start to heat up once again.
