Lefty Ryan Borucki will serve as an opener for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Osvaldo Bido on Sunday afternoon

Originally, the Pittsburgh Pirates had planned to send right-handed pitcher Osvaldo Bido to the mound as their starter on Sunday afternoon in Minnesota. However, these plans have now changed for the Bucs.

Following Saturday night's 7-4 victory over the Twins, manager Derek Shelton announced that lefty Ryan Borucki will now start for the Pirates. This will just be as an opener, however. Bido will still be the bulk guy for the Pirates.

This will not be the first time that Borucki has served as an opener for Bido. He did so on July 22nd as well, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings before Bido took over the Bucs. Bido would follow with 3 scoreless innings of his own.

In 24.1 innings pitched this season Borucki owns a 4.07 ERA, 4.37 FIP, 3.1% walk rate, 23.7% strikeout rate, and a 1.48 HR/9. As ofr Bido, he owns a 5.05 ERA, 4.34 FIP, 7.9% walk rate, 19.6% strikeout rate, and a 0.88 HR/9 in 41 innings pitched.

Veteran lefty Dallas Keuchel is set to make his 3rd start with the Twins on Sunday afternoon. The former American League Cy Young Award winners owns a 9.45 ERA and a 5.51 FIP in 6.2 innings pitched through his first two starts with the Twins. First pitch from Target Field is scheduled for 2:10 PM ET.
