Right-handed pitcher Ryder Ryan

On December 11th, the Pittsburgh Pirates signed right-handed reliever Ryder Ryan to a minor league deal. This led to Ryan, who pitched in the majors with the Seattle Mariners last season, earning an invite to spring training from the Pirates.

Ryan made just one appearance with Seattle last season. His 1.0 inning that he logged is the lone inning he has pitched in the majors. Ryan walked a batter and struck out a pair while pitching a hitless, scoreless inning in his MLB debut.

The 28-year-old Ryan throws a fastball that can touch the upper-90s. He also throws a slider that could develop into a quality pitch in the majors and pair with his fastball to make him an effective reliever.

When the 2024 season begins Ryan will be in the bullpen at Triple-A Indianapolis. If he can work on his command at Indy while pitching effectively, then Ryan could find his way into the Pirate bullpen at some point this season.
