Looking ahead to the 2023 season, the Pittsburgh Pirates need these two players to take a step forward

While the Pittsburgh Pirates are not expected to compete for a postseason berth in 2023, it should still be a season of improvement for the club. Even if the club finishes under .500, they can still take steps forward on the field.

By the end of the 2023 season things could be trending upward for the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, in order for that to happen, there are players who need to take a step forward with their progression in 2023.

Oneil Cruz may seem like an obvious choice for this list. After all, he has the potential to be one of the biggest power hitters in all of baseball. However, due to what he showed in his final 200 plate appearances last season after having a chance to adjust to MLB pitching, he will be left off for now.

Cruz aside, there are still multiple players the Pirates will be looking at to take a step forward in their development this season. Today, we will focus on two of those players. That focus will begin with a player the team will be looking upon to make big strides offensively.
