Rich Hill turns in a strong potential final Pirate start
Sunday afternoon veteran lefty Rich Hill made what will likely prove to be his final start with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Hell, by the time you read this the pending free agent may have already been traded.
If Sunday's start was Hill's last one as a Pirate, he went out on a high note. The only runs Hill allowed in the start came on a 2-run 3rd inning home run by Alec Bohm. Hill allowed these 2 runs on five hits, three walks, and seven strikeouts in 5 innings pitched.
Hill only threw 78 pitches through his 5 innings of work and likely could have pitched another inning. But, in a move likely designed to prevent any further injury risk ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, Hill was pulled after 5 innings.
In the start Hill had his swing-and-miss stuff working. This start was some of the best stuff Hill has had all season. Definitely a strong final impression for other teams ahead of the trade deadline and a strong final start as a Pirate, if that proves to be the case.
