Carlson Reed, Right Handed Pitcher

Carlson Reed is another pitcher who is doing very well with the Low-A Bradenton Marauders. He is a right handed pitcher who was selected in the fourth round out of West Virginia University. He is not a ranked prospect for the Pirates, but he has been a very solid arm this year. He definitely is starting to get on the radar in terms of Pirates pitching prospects.

Through seven starts, Reed has an earned run average of 1.71 in 31.2 innings pitched and has struck out 36 batters. He also has a WHIP of 1.23 and an opponent batting average of .189. Reed adds a FIP of 3.60 and a strikeout percentage of 27.7%. Overall, pretty darn good numbers to start one's professional career.

Reed is an underrated pitcher in the Pirates system and was a sneaky good pick in the draft. He could be nearing a promotion to Greensboro very soon. Being that he is coming from the college ranks it is much more likely that he will be promoted before lefty Michael Kennedy.
