Play stopped during the Pittsburgh Pirates vs Chicago Cubs game on Wednesday night in the seventh inning when a fan fell 21 feet over the Roberto Clemente Wall in right field and into the warning track.

Paramedics immediately swarmed the scene in what was a horrifying incident for those in attendance at PNC Park. The fan was eventually placed on a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital. It was a sobering moment as players from the Pirates dugout immediately started to point toward the wall and call for help.

Videos have been posted all over social media, and the slow motion clip makes it seem as if the fan was making an attempt to jump onto the field, as he leapt over the railing but got his legs caught from under him, resulting in the scary tumble, after which he laid motionless on the ground.

The game resumed shortly after (which came as a surprise to many given the evident severity of the situation) and the Pirates captured the 4-3 victory. As the incident with the fan unfolded, Andrew McCutchen hit a go-ahead two-run double. But it's hard to even focus on that. During the broadcast, players on both the Cubs and Pirates were seen taking a knee during the 10-minute delay.

The Pirates released a statement after the game, revealing that the fan had been transported to Allegheny General Hospital.

At the start of his press conference after the game, Pirates manager Derek Shelton offered his thoughts and prayers to the man and his family and expressed how harrowing the scene was for everybody on the field. He also thanked the Pirates and Cubs' medical staffs as well as the Pittsburgh EMS.
