Center Field: Sammy Siani

Sammy Siani completed turned his prospect status around with an impressive 2024 campaign throughout the regular season and Arizona Fall League. He had not been productive since 2021, so him breaking out in 2024 was very important, and it pushes him in front at center field in the Pirates' farm system. Luckily, he was not stolen in the Rule 5 Draft, and will remain in Pittsburgh's sights.

A season ago, Siani played in Greensboro and Altoona. He did much better with Greensboro, but he played in just 17 games with them. Nonetheless, he was still productive in Altoona. Against the higher level of competition in Double-A, Siani batted .254 and slugged five home runs while driving in 36. His OPS sat at just .692, but it reached .966 in High-A. His wRC+ with Altoona was just 101, while it reached 170 in Greensboro.

The difference between the two levels is significant, including a very hitter-friendly ballpark in Greensboro, but the strides he made in his development were crucial in 2024. Additionally, Siani dominated in the Arizona Fall League. He put up a high 1.007 OPS with three home runs and batted .375. That topped off a very important season for Siani.

This big season with three different teams was huge for Siani, as he rose to become the best center field prospect in the Pirates organization.

Right Field: Matt Gorski

When Michael A. Taylor and Jack Suwinski displayed their struggles in 2024, many fans wanted the Pirates to promote Matt Gorski. At 26 years old, about to be 27, Gorski has been a known power hitter, but he is not within the Pirates' top 30 prospects.

Last season in Triple-A, Gorski slugged 23 home runs, 24 doubles, and five triples to produce a slugging percentage of .522. That went along with a .319 on-base percentage to make an OPS of .841. His wRC+ also went to 110, but his strikeout percentage also rose to 28.6%.

His power has created 87 career home runs in five seasons in the minor leagues. His issue has been striking out and whiffing at a high rate, but his defense is valuable to the Pirates. He adds 88 career stolen bases as well.

Gorski is an older prospect, but he is still the best prospect in right field inside the Pirates organization. He could make an impact on the big-league Pirates in 2025.
