Let the beatings begin cried Pirates Manager John Russell!  Not really, but it sounded good.  The Pirates and SCF will play at McKechnie Field in a few hours.  It will give the Pirates an opportunity to return the favor after a frustrating loss at the annual scrimmage game last season.

It was called the Miracle on Grass.

Despite their best efforts to pray to the Greek God of Rain,  Zeus, the Mother of the Sky,  the State College of Florida were forced to board their buses this morning and head over to Bradenton for their beat down.

Thanks to Rob Biertempfel here is the starting lineup for the Pirates:

43-Gorkys Hernandez CF
58-John Raynor LF
31-Jose Tabata RF
17-Pedro Alvarez 3B
51-Steve Pearce 1B
44-Brandon Moss DH
67-Erik Kratz C
73-Argenis Diaz SS
82-Doug Bernier 2B

Pirate pitchers will see an inning each in the seven inning charity game.  Bryan Morris and Donnie Veal will be the first two Pirate pitchers on the bump this afternoon.  They are expected to be followed by AFL stud Ronald Uviedo, Justin Thomas and Ramon Aguero.  Former minor league pitcher of the year Jeff Sues and Anthony Claggett  will be on the mound in the sixth and seventh innings doing their best to avoid pulling a Dave Davidson.

Knock ’em dead Bucs.  (and heh Zeus, easy on all the wind today, ok?)
