In this episode of Rum Bunter Radio the crew is back in full force to break down the first career start for highly touted Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Roansy Contreras
The 2021 season has held its fair share of ups and downs, but one word that keeps Pirates’ fans hopefully is the word future. For Pittsburgh Pirates fans this past Tuesday the future became the present.
After joining the organization this past offseason as part of the Jameson Taillon trade, Roansy Contreras hit the ground running in the minor leagues, and continued to turn heads as the season went on.
In the early stages of the 2021 campaign the Pittsburgh Pirates decided to call up another piece of that deal, and what the Pirates hope could be another key part of the rotation moving forward, Miguel Yajure. Contreras, being the second of these youngsters to debut, had much anticipation surrounding his first start.
Opening his MLB career against the Chicago Cubs in PNC Park, Roansy showed out. In just three innings of work, he kept the Cubs scoreless, walked just one batter and struck out four, leaving Pirates fans hungry for more.
Just two days later, they would get the chance to see Miguel Yajure make his return to “The Bigs” after missing a good deal of the season to injury, and the rehab that followed.
Reaching the 100 loss mark late in the week, the Pittsburgh Pirates decided it was time to reward Oneil Cruz for his hot bat in the minors and call him up to join the team for the final two days of the minor league season.
The Rum Bunter Radio crew is here to break it down, and give their analysis on what’s to come for these youngsters. Batten down the hatches, clear the decks, Rum Bunter Radio episode 69 is here, and it’s well, quite nice.
