In terms of pitcher reactions, Pirates fans would probably prefer to see their aces so filled to the brim with anger that they can't help but sputter and burst, as opposed to Paul Skenes' recent blank stare heard 'round the world.
Mitch Keller wasn't done with Pittsburgh on Friday night. But he certainly was done with the man behind the plate, who took the Pirates' rally into his own hands (as umpires so often seem to do these days).
Keller threw six innings, allowing three hits and three runs (while striking out an uncharacteristic single Padre) on Friday night. The bullpen held it down in back of him, tossing a pair of perfect innings. Of course, Keller was responsible for coughing up a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth, and spent the remainder of the game hoping to be avenged by his offense.
He was nearly bailed out by a two-out rally in the top of the eighth. Following Andrew McCutchen's double and back-to-back walks to Bryan Reynolds and Spencer Horwitz, Henry Davis strode to the dish trying to put an exclamation point on his recent heater. Facing a 3-2 count, Davis took ball four.
But he wasn't allowed to walk. Umpire Edwin Jimenez called it strike three, Don Kelly got himself ejected, and Keller - faced with the reality that he was about to drop to 1-7 on the year - exploded in street clothes in the dugout. Watch it. Watch it again. Watch it 12 more times.

Pirates Pitchers About to Suffer Yet Another Mounting Loss: They're just like us!
Pittsburgh will take on Dylan Cease and the Padres in a grudge match at 9:40 EST on Saturday night, and we don't blame you if you don't want to stay up and watch a game on west coast hours, only to feel exactly like Keller as the clock strikes midnight.
You can't knock the fire and fervor of this Pirates team. You can only hope that, someday, they'll collect enough talent so that they won't have to rely on an umpire's whims to protect a slim margin of victory.
