The Pittsburgh Pirates took all three games of their series against the Philadelphia Phillies at PNC Park this weekend, and they celebrated the sweep of their in-state rivals with some local flair (naturally).

Following the conclusion of Sunday's game, which the Pirates won 2-1 behind strong pitching performances from Paul Skenes and Braxton Aschcraft, the team's official X account posted a single video clip in celebration. No caption was necessary.

The clip was a scene from Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, the children's television series that ran for 31 seasons from 1968-2001. The scene featured Fred Rogers – a Pittsburgh brand nearly as iconic as the Pirates themselves – setting up a turntable and record player and saying, "Let's listen to a little bit of this song."

The moment Rogers lowered the tonearm onto the record, the original audio from the scene was cut out and replaced by "A New Pirate Generation," the Pirates' victory song of the past two decades. The scene ended with Rogers slowly turning his head to smile at the camera. Take that, Philadelphia.

Pirates fans can finally feel joy after sweep of Phillies at PNC Park

For a Pirates team that sits in last place in the National League Central division and ranks 29th out of 30 MLB teams in total runs scored (209), this weekend's series was not just a sweep; it was a drubbing.

The Phillies, who are in second place in the NL East, rank 10th in runs scored (297) and boast a lineup that can really hit from top to bottom – even without Bryce Harper, who was placed on the IL last week with a wrist injury. But the Pirates managed to hold them to just six runs over three games, outscoring them 9-6 in that span.

In a series where the margins for victory were razor-thin, the Pirates got the job done to clinch their first sweep of the season – after being swept by the Phillies earlier this season at Citizens Bank Park, no less. Pittsburgh won each game by one run, including a 5-4 walk-off win on Friday and back-to-back 2-1 victories on Saturday and Sunday.

The in-state rivals won't meet again until next season, but this past weekend made the battle of Pennsylvania a little more interesting in the meantime.
