It's been less than a month since Callan Moss was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he's already making an impact with his new organization.

The Pirates acquired Moss – an unranked first base prospect – from the Kansas City Royals in a deadline trade that sent left-handed pitcher Bailey Falter the other way, and the 21-year-old has been on an absolute tear since he first arrived at High-A Greensboro.

Moss had a solid debut with Greensboro, going 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored against the Atlanta Braves' High-A affiliate on Aug. 2, and things only got better from there.

He was named the South Atlantic League Player of the Week on Aug. 11 after racking up 12 hits, including two home runs, and eight RBI through five games against the Houston Astros' High-A affiliate.

Needless to say, Moss has made a monster first impression in his frist month as a member of the Pirates organization. Through his first 22 games for Greensboro, Moss slashed .395/.453/.686 with six home runs for an OPS of 1.139.

Moss has continued to produce at a consistently high level since his trade from the Royals, and he is already knocking on the door of a Double-A promotion. His performance in High-A remains robust, and his smooth debut post-trade underscores how well he's adapted to the new organization.

Thanks in part to Moss' strong August, the Pirates are already looking like the early winners in a trade that was wildly unpopular at the time it was made. Falter has made two starts for Kansas City and struggled significantly, allowing nine earned runs on 11 hits and five walks across just eight innings.

The Royals officially moved Falter to the bullpen on August 13, opting to activate Michael Lorenzen into the rotation spot Falter had vacated. Falter has posted a brutal 11.25 ERA and a 2.25 WHIP across 12 innings over four appearances (two starts) with Kansas City after starting the season with a 3.73 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 113 1/3 innings through 22 starts with Pittsburgh.
