At 14 games below .500, it is hard to get too rosy about the Pittsburgh Pirates this season. However, the Pirates have really shown signs of life lately and given hope that this season could actually represent a step forward instead of yet another disappointment for a fanbase that has gotten used to them. The Pirates are certainly hoping to build off their sweep of the Phillies, but the weather seems to be intervening with their matchup against the Marlins on Monday.
This game looks like it could be really interesting as Mike Burrows, who is coming off a strong outing after struggling in his first two, is set to face off against Eury Perez in his 2025 debut who is one of Miami's best young pitchers and who has been out since 2023 after needing Tommy John surgery.
Unfortunately, that matchup will have to wait as the Pirates matchup against the Marlins is officially in a rain delay.

This forecast is tricky because there is a big blob of rain coming through in such a way that the rain could be off and on, all evening long, or give Pittsburgh just a glancing blow. It is a bit too close to really guess what will happen at this exact moment, but there is a chance that this game just gets banged. If not, this could be a pretty lengthy rain delay based on what this line of storms are doing.
