The Pittsburgh Pirates put together an excellent 2025 draft, especially by adding more stud pitchers to the lab in the top two rounds. Those arms they added are the only selections that will crack the Pirates' top 10 prospects, rounding out this list as one of the strongest in baseball.

It'll be a while until these major networks start to adjust their rankings following the draft, so here is an idea of how their top 10 could settle.

Re-ranking the Pittsburgh Pirates' top 10 prospects following 2025 MLB Draft

1. Bubba Chandler, RHP

Bubba Chandler has pitched better recently and could be making his MLB debut soon. Though he's struggles with control issues as of late, he's rebounded and remains one of the most promising pitching prospects in the sport. Chandler boasts a strong 2.82 ERA with a 3.23 FIP and 11.41 K/9.

2. Konnor Griffin, SS

Konnor Griffin could emerge as the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball as soon as Roman Anthony graduates after the All-Star Break on Baseball America's top 100 list. Griffin even attended the MLB Futures Game after his impressive first half where he posted a 156 wRC+ with 13 home runs, 41 stolen bases, and a .921 OPS.

3. Seth Hernandez, RHP

Seth Hernandez could soon be tops in the system given his incredible scouting grades. Although he is coming out of high school, the talent is there and he has the upside to become the greatest prep pitcher in history. His grades from MLB Pipeline are as following. Fastball: 70 | Curveball: 60 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 60 | Control: 55 | Overall: 60. These are better than what Bubba Chandler was given, despite no innings of professional baseball.

4. Hunter Barco, LHP

Hunter Barco has turned himself into one of the top southpaws in all of minor league baseball. He started the season off with zero earned runs across six starts in Double-A and then got promoted. His Triple-A ERA sits at 3.35 with a 4.15 FIP and 10.67 K/9. If his alarming walk rate goes down, he could debut in Pittsburgh before the year ends, but that 5.23 BB/9 must come down.

5. Termarr Johnson, 2B

Termarr Johnson has put together a solid year in Double-A so far. At 21 years old, he has some of the best plate discipline in the organization, striking out at a low 18.3% rate and walking at a solid 10.7% clip. The added balls in play from him haven't exactly benefitted him, generating a .285 BAPIP. On the year, he has belted eight home runs with a .704 OPS and a 107 wRC+.

6. Angel Cervantes, RHP

The other prep arm taken on night one was Angel Cervantes, and he has a ton of upside just like Hernandez. As the youngest player taken in the draft, Cervantes was given these scouting grades. Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 50 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 60 | Control: 50 | Overall: 50. At 17 years old, the Pirates have a ton of time to develop this right hander and he comes with some of the best tools from the draft.

7. Nick Yorke, 2B

Nick Yorke has struggled this season, yet he is still one of the top hitting prospects in the organization. In his "down" year in Triple-A, he has generated a 97 wRC+ with six home runs and a .731 OPS. Following the trade deadline, Yorke should get an extended look at the big league level. He showed his upside at the big league level at the end of the 2024 season and slugged two home runs with an 82 wRC+.

8. Edward Florentino, OF

Edward Florentino has taken off this season, earning an aggressive promotion to Low-A Bradenton a couple of weeks ago. At just 18 years old, Florentino is showing incredible tools at the plate. In the FCL and High-A this year, Florentino has generated a 182 wRC+ with 10 home runs and 18 stolen bases. His OPS is up to 1.043 and his strikeout rate is decent at 21.1%.

9. Thomas Harrington, RHP

Thomas Harrington has really struggled this year and has fallen out of MLB Pipeline's top 100 list. After his MLB debut, he fell apart in Triple-A and has not been able to find a groove. This season in the minor leagues, Harrington has posted a 5.60 ERA with a 5.49 FIP and a 8.18 K/9. His problem this year has been allowing too many walks and home runs (more than ever, in fact). He doubled his walk rate and home run rate from last season. He still has a lot of upside and will eventually turn things around.

10. Wyatt Sanford, SS

Wyatt Sanford concludes this list as second-highest shortstop in the organization. At 19 years old, the 2024 second-rounder has shown his upside at the plate in the FCL and in Bradenton. On the year, Sanford has generated a 124 wRC+ with four home runs and a .762 OPS. He also adds 29 stolen bases and a 21% strikeout rate.
