Reaching over the fence while an outfielder is trying to make a play is a dangerous game – especially if that outfielder is Tommy Pham of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Nevertheless, a bold Los Angeles Angels fan decided to press his luck on Wednesday, and it's safe to say Pham didn't care for it.

The Pittsburgh Pirates left fielder was running to grab the ball at the wall after Angels catcher Travis d'Arnaud hit a double off of Andrew Heaney in the fifth inning when the intrepid fan reached over the wall and touched Pham's back with this glove.

A visibly agitated Pham paused and glared at the fan before throwing to the cut-off man. After he made the play, Pham made a lewd gesture at the fan before asking security to remove them from that part of the ballpark.

This isn't the first time in his brief tenure with the Pirates that Pham has gotten into it with opposing fans. During spring training, the 37-year-old responded to a heckler in the crowd between pitches during the Pirates' game against the New York Yankees, shouting, "I bet you got a little d***, too." He proceeded to swear on live television when he was mic'd up during a game just a few days later.

Unfortunately, Pham doesn't show the same fervor at the plate that he does in his altercations with fans. The veteran outfielder is hitting just .184/.267/.224 through 23 games this year – and, yes, this is the guy who was supposedly signed as the answer to the Pirates' lack of power.

Pham does, however, have five hits over his last two games – his only two multi-hit performances of the 2025 campaign. After the incident with the fan in Wednesday's game, Pham went on to hit an RBI single off a broken bat in the top of the ninth inning that scored Adam Frazier for the Pirates' final run in their 3-0 win over the Angels.

Pittsburgh will go for the series sweep Thursday before kicking off a three-game weekend set against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
