One of the most energetic and exciting prospects to watch in the Pirates' farm system this season has been Termarr Johnson. Pittsburgh's first rounder from 2022 has put together an average year so far, yet he has put together a handful of dramatic moments. Last night, Johnson had another head turning situation, getting into a heated altercation with Portland's catcher.

It all started with a foul ball Johnson tapped up the third base line that was close to sneaking through. Portland's catcher Ronaldo Herrnandez began to mess around with Johnson's bat, propping it up in the dirt, and Johnson did not care for it, shouting from first base on his way back. As Johnson went back for his bat, Hernandez dropped it on the ground right in front of him, causing Johnson to continue to chirp.

A couple pitches later, Johnson linesd a single up the middle, and as soon as he saw that it wouldn't be caught, he turned around on his way to first and chirped to Hernandez again. Hernandez began to follow up him a few steps up the first base line before the umpire held him back. He yelled towards Johnson for about 20 seconds straight until the Sea Dogs' manager came out to calm him down.

In the next few at-bats, Johnson emphasized his message by stealing second and third off of Hernandez, ending that dramatic sequence. Johnson also finished the night with three singles in five at-bats.

We do not know what was said or whether there was any prior history between the two, but it was definitely an odd start to a heated conversation. This moment felt similar to earlier in the season when Johnson and a Harrisburg pitcher got into it. He struck Johnson out and chirped, then Johnson got revenge with a long home run into the Altoona roller coaster in right field, and his reaction was electric.

Even though Johnson has only a .714 OPS this season, he is still an exciting prospect. The 21-year-old has a bright future ahead of him and these exciting moments are making his approaching debut feel more exhilarating. His energy is something fans would be glued to for nine innings, and Pittsburgh needs a guy like that.
